Ordering Custom Art

Your Vision becomes a Reality in Paint -
One of my greatest pleasures is to sit down with a client and learn why they want to order a custom work of art. The stories are inspiring, for each one different. The request range from a simple sketch of their grandchild as a gift, another individual requested a painting documenting four generations of his family working in the railroad. It included the switching tower, depot, a steam engine and a modern engine all compiled together. At the client request the names were incorporated into the design. This was created as a gift for his sons birthday. We saw his son a few weeks later and he just went on and on about how much he loved it and what a special gift it was. I love it when people slow down enough to consider a work of art as a treat for themselves or the ones they love. One special project was transforming grandmothers broken china into wearable art that will become a treasured family heirloom for the clients sisters.

If you need a little help thinking of just the right thing- give me a call and we will come up with something.

Mural Project
One of my most rewarding experiences was creating a 5O ft fantasy style mural on the clients retaining wall last spring. She said she was unhappy with the drab wall framing her garden and wanted to brighten things up a bit. We sat down together at her home with my portfolio and original painting gathered around for inspiration. When I asked her what she had in mind she said she just wanted something colorful, and happy with a bit of whimsy. She pointed out an image of mine she saw online. We brainstormed until we came up with an extensive list of images she and her daughter found inspiring. I was concerned if we could get it all in - but it came together seamlessly. A sketch was created in my studio and then approved by client. I set to work, traveling 60 miles twice a day, and over the next few weeks transforming a formerly blah wall into a world of fantasy and creative energy. At the end of each day, it was fun to see the delight on her face when she discovered something new I threw in just for fun. The focal point of the mural to me is pictured above, a stylized image of her St Bernard- JOEY. He acts as a guardian of sorts. When completed the mural became a beautiful backdrop to the garden party she threw at the unveiling. She continues to enjoy the vibrant images over a cup of tea or while tending the garden.
