Affirmation
Sketchbook pages full of mystical images, strong authoritative women, crouched figures with empty faces, rich patterns, travel adventures and idealized forms call for me to flesh them out into a finished work. This painting "Affirmation" developed from a series of underpaintings and glazes of contrasting colors creating tension in the surface. This piece is very dear to me as it marks a personal journey of inner strength. Out of chaos the spirit is born.
