Unraveling the thought process of the artist, what a tangled mess, but here I will share the frenzy I call inspiration.

Getting My Hands Dirty
After attending a figure study session for about six months with fellow artists, that resulted in some really nice sketches ,I thought it time to pull out the clay. Usually we start with some one to three minute sketches and work our way up to 15-30 minutes per pose which is plenty of time to do something fresh, without the temptation of overworking it. This particular day we had an hour to do this pose, so wedging the clay on the floor and hastily blocking it in under the direction of a higher power this is what emerged. While tools were available , i didn't pick up a tool till the last 20 minutes of the session and that was just to undercut a few areas to provide definition. As I wrapped my new creation in a plastic bag to return home, a since of calm washed over me. It was a rather mystical experience. The 20 minute drive home I was surprised as to the effects of this very satisfying session. I felt a noticeably cool sensation in the back side of my brain, just past the ear. OK, so i know the brain itself doesn't have nerve receptors, but I'm just telling you what happened. That area of the brain has to do with intense satisfaction how, liberating it was to get my hands dirty.
