The Short Answer Please

The shortest distance between to points is a straight line. Sometimes when I am trying to communicate, I tend to forget this rule of thumb. Get to the point.

It has been a problem since I can remember and has driven my family crazy at times when trying tell a story or answer a simple question. This is something I have been working on and certainly find the humor in when speaking to my small business consultant. I had so many questions and ideas, we assigned a task list from which I can work. When I spoke to her on the phone yesterday, about an upcoming meeting that is contingent on another individuals availability and schedule, the options were extensive, but she summed it up saying, "The short answer is"...... "we can meet any time tomorrow except 11:30-3:30, Ill give you a call by 10am when I know more."

This has become a new catch phrase that echos in my mind when I find myself going on about the endless possibilities. I need to remember when my husband asks a simple question, like ...."Do you want to go out to dinner tonight?" I doubt if he wants to hear, "I don't know, Do you, I can cook if you want me to, I mean- yeah, that would be nice- are you sure you want to spend the money, we are going out tomorrow with the kids" Enter, THE SHORT ANSWER PLEASE. Yes, that would be nice.
