Annabelle and Adele a
Collaboration
Syncopation |
Two local visual artists, Annabelle
Seelye Fuhr from Lamar and Adele Thompson from Joplin have been
creating their own personal vision in paint all their life, but now
as a creative exercise they had decided to share a canvas and see
what happens. While each artist has a distinct style, they have
recently embarked on a journey of creating a collection of
collaborative paintings in addition to their own personal work ,
which now is being unveiled to the public during Columbus Days
October 5th , with an artist reception.
The process of creating these freestyle
paintings is unique in that each artist would lay down a foundation
painting and then hand it off to the other to build on what was
created. Each layer
changed the painting in such a way that it became entirely
different. They would continue this process of adding to the work of the other, until they agreed it was complete. In this way they created a collection of paintings with a freshness that communicates a variety of emotions. These pieces range from sheer musical energy in “Syncopation”, to peaceful contemplation in, “Twilight Falls”. Ten pieces comprise the collaborative collection including a satirical piece that emerged on the canvas , “ But, what about our spawn?”, communicates a love affair of two fish gone wrong.
